Our over 11,000 employees on all continents represent more than 90 nationalities, four generations and diversity of professions, gender, abilities, ethnicities, sexual orientations, beliefs, cultures etc. We are committed to represent the societies we operate in, promoting equality, equity and zero-tolerance for discrimination.

Due to our geographical footprint and the industry that we operate in Jotun’s biggest challenge has been to improve gender balance by increasing the number of females working at all levels of the organisation. In 2021 we therefore set clear targets to increase gender balance in management as this will influence the organisation as a whole. We are proud to share our progress which is possible due to dedication across Jotun.

To achieve an inclusive company culture requires behaviour exhibited to actively include a diverse workforce. Behaving inclusively often takes active effort to ensure you involve more people in discussions, decisions, and consultations. It is also essential to ensure that diverse employees feel safe, valued, and motivated at work.

Jotun managers are behind this thinking and actively involved. Listen to them in this video:

To ensure that we have sufficient focus on inclusion we survey our diverse employees on their experiences regularly. On our last survey we were very glad to see a inclusion score of 88 %, four points above the benchmark built on data from thousands of organisations globally. This indicates that a large majority of employees experience the working environment as respectful and inclusive.

Inclusion requires continuous effort that requires leadership attention, open dialogue, and consistent follow up. While most employees report positive experiences, the survey results highlight the areas that need continued improvement. In these areas the local companies are compelled to either start investigations or take action.
