Former CEO and Chairman of the Board in Jotun, Odd Gleditsch jr., passed away December 25th 2023.
One of the most significant characters in Jotun’s history, Odd Gleditsch jr., has died. He was surrounded by his closest family when he peacefully passed away early morning December 25th, at the age of 94.
As the son of Jotun’s founder, Odd Gleditsch jr. became involved in the family business immediately after completing his studies. From 1953 he held several other positions in Jotun before taking on the role as CEO from 1967-1979. He was the Chairman of the Board from 1972-2000.
Odd Gleditsch jr. was instrumental in Jotun’s internationalization, from the first factory outside Norway (Libya in 1962). In Jotun’s hometown Sandefjord, he will forever be remembered as the one who decided to rebuild Jotun’s business after the big fire in 1976 when everything seemed dark and difficult. Under his leadership, the foundation for the successful development of Jotun was made.
He will be deeply missed.
