How do we ensure our quality is the best
We put every Jotashield product through the harshest weather test. At Jotun, we leave nothing to chance when it comes quality. We put all our Jotashield product through the strictest of tests to see if they can weather even the harshest of conditions. Our team of chemists monitor the tests and check the paint’s ability to resist UV, water, salt , wear and tear, cracks, and movement of substances like water vapour and carbon dioxide.

UV Resistance Test
Sun rays can be silent but ultra-violent causing paint to fade, leading to chalking, flaking, and damage to concrete surfaces. To ensure the highest quality, we subject our paints to rigorous UV resistance testing.
The test: The panel to be tested is painted with the Jotashield product and is placed in a UV chamber. The chamber simulates extreme UV and other climatic conditions for thousands of hours.
Evaluation criteria: After exposure, the panel is checked for signs of degradation, such as chalking, cracking, flaking, and other issues.
The ideal result: No chalking/lesser chalking or other irregularities are an indication of a better UV-resistant paint

Carbon Dioxide Permeability
Carbon dioxide in the air reacts with concrete and steel reinforcement bars, leading to cracking and corrosion, causing structural damage. Our strict CO2 permeability tests guarantee you have paint that you can count on.
The test: A container is filled with C02 absorbents, sealed with a substrate, and painted with Jotashield on the outer side. The container is then placed inside a C02 chamber with a constant flow of gas for several hours. The constant flow of C02 allows some of the gas to percolate through the Jotashield paint film and substrate and be absorbed by the C02 absorbents.
Evaluation criteria: After many hours, the weight of the assembly is measured over time to see how much carbon dioxide has penetrated the coating.
The ideal result: The difference in weight before and after the C02 chamber determines the paint's C02 diffusion resistance. A lesser difference in weight indicates greater resistance to C02 diffusion.

Salt Spray Resistance Test
Living by the sea is great but can pose a unique challenge to painted surfaces due to the corrosive effects of salt in the air. To ensure your dream property can deal with harsh conditions, we put our coatings through the toughest of tests.
The test: The panel to be tested is painted with the Jotashield product and is placed in a sea salt chamber. The chamber simulates extreme climatic conditions, significantly more severe than the actual salt in the air due to the sea.
Evaluation criteria: After exposure, the panels are checked for signs of degradation, such as chalking, cracking, flaking, and other irregularities.
The ideal result: The absence of chalking or lesser irregularities indicate better salt resistance of the paint.

Water Permeability Test
Water infiltration can lead to significant damage to painted surfaces, compromising their appearance and structural integrity. Every Jotashield product goes through an extreme water permeability test so your property never loses its aesthetic charm.
The test: A concrete block is painted on one side with the Jotashield paint. The concrete block is then subjected to a constant flow of high-pressure water, gradually penetrating the paint film.
Evaluation criteria: This test helps to determine the paint's adhesion quality, ensuring that it can withstand the elements and maintain its appearance over time.
The ideal result: A lower water permeability value means that the paint has higher water resistance.
