Product storage has been slowly changing over the last years from being pure petroleum products to including the so called Bio products. This provides a tank farm/terminal new challenges and opportunities. This also gives rise to a greater demand in spot storage markets which require a different attitude to long term storage as there is a greater turnover of dissimilar products more similar to shipping needs from a coating.

Corrosion challenges for product storage

Tank linings have a huge consequence for a tank farm operator. If they fail due to incorrect type/handling or original application then the cost of 'out of service' can be very consequential. It is therefore very important to enlist the close cooperation of the paint supplier.
 
If you have long term storage tanks then stable storage is important. If we talk about change of product on a regular basis then the time out of service for so called recovery should be as short as possible. In Jotun we take this challenge very seriously. We have a range of products for land storage tanks where we focus on long term storage and have the tank lining resistance list to support our clients' choices. For the more spot market tanks we recommend our marine orientated products that have a similar requirement and then use the product resistance list (PRL).
