Joining forces to fight plastic waste in our oceans
Every year, more than eight million tons of plastic enter our oceans. The Jotun Group participated in the Norwegian Telethon 2020, an annual televised fundraiser, which focused on the effort to reduce plastic waste.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will use the funds raised from the Telethon 2020 to tackle plastic pollution at the source by establishing and improving waste management systems for more than 900 000 people living in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and The Philippines. WWF will work in collaboration with local communities, authorities and businesses, with the aim of collecting and recycling plastic waste and reducing unnecessary single-use plastics bags. The overall goal is to reduce plastic waste and protect our oceans.
The Jotun Group donated NOK 123 500. In addition, employees in Norway joined as digital fundraiser contributing over NOK 50 000 to this good cause.
