Coating solutions dedicated to mobile rigs
Offshore mobile rigs are widely used in various stages of offshore oil and gas production, from wildcat to well workover. Advanced coating solutions from Jotun protect hundreds of drillships and offshore mobile rigs operating in all oceans – exposed to the threat of corrosion, hydrocarbon pool or jet fire as well as marine fouling.
Drillships and offshore mobile rigs are called for dry-docking every 5 years for safety check. To maximize efficiency during operation, in dry-dock or in towing towards new waters, it is important to protect these valuable offshore assets against corrosion, fire and fouling.
Antifouling
Offshore mobile rigs are operating statically for months up to years - an ideal environment for marine growth on the underwater areas. Fouling will not only reduce the lifetime of underwater protective coatings and add friction during towing, but may also lead to unexpected docking if the regulations on marine growth immigration is applicable when a mobile rig is towed into a new water.
Fire protection
Safety is always of top priority for all types of offshore installations, including drillships and offshore mobile rigs. Processing and storage of hydrocarbon on board the crowded offshore facility involve high risk of fire. Thus the most reliable passive fire protection (PFP) towards hydrocarbon pool fire and jet fire is essential. In addition to performance and liability, application efficiency is critical. When billions of capital expenditures are invested in offshore oil & gas production, a PFP that enables simplified and highly efficient application will save valuable time and cost to both owner and fabricator.

NORSOK Systems
Select system below to see the alternative coating systems
Since the NORSOK Standard M-501 was introduced in 1994 it has gained acceptance as a valid means of documentation for coating systems used on offshore structures. Jotun has a number of systems that have been tested and pre-qualified, including coatings that have shown excellent results over the last 25 years.
