Fixed Platforms

Fixed platforms set very high requirements on coatings to ensure long-term safe and profitable operation. 

At the new construction stage it is crucial to select coating systems with extensive testing, NORSOK pre-qualifications and track record as well as to carry out the coating application with high quality workmanship. This will significantly minimise the maintenance work needed during operation and extend the platform lifetime. 

You can reduce costly maintenance and shut-down by choosing tailor-made solutions developed to meet the needs of fixed platforms:

The jacket is the foundation of a fixed platform and is exposed to a severe corrosive environment including waves, ice, UV radiation, wet and dry cycles.  Once the jacket is installed on the sea bed, it is almost impossible to repair the coating system.  Therefore a high performance coating system that can last for the whole life of the platform is highly preferred.  Baltoflake is an extremely tough and durable glass flake reinforced polyester coating and has proven its unique strength in protecting offshore jackets with more than 30 years' success in the North Sea.

A majority of offshore assets require some degree of jet fire protection, PFP (passive fire protection). Following an extensive development and testing programme, the mesh free PFP coating Jotachar JF750 is designed to help owners, fabricators and applicators save time, lower costs and reduce risks compared to systems that require mesh reinforcement.

As an offshore oil and gas production plant, the fixed platform hosts complicated modules consisting of pipes and valves working at extreme temperatures. High temperature and a corrosive environment enlarge the challenge of CUI (corrosion under insulation).  Jotun provides a total temperature management solution to achieve maximum safety and environment security for fixed platforms through Jotatemp 1000 Ceramic.
