The objective of the schools is to ensure that each customer knows the uses of today’s different classes of paint –many of them designed to meet the growing number of health and environmental regulations and recommendations – and that users know how to apply them properly. As well as theory, participants are given the opportunity to brush test the products and to learn about the different types of brushes on the market today best suited for application of waterborne paints and which brushes should be used for solvent borne coatings.
The paint schools are held either at Jotun’s production plant in Flixborough or, when appropriate facilities are available, at the customer’s or user’s premises if preferred.
Special CPD seminars, usually held during the lunch period at customer’s own premises, are also available. To book a CPD seminar or paint school, please contact your local Jotun office or e mail deco.uk@jotun.co.uk
Jotun paint school instructors are not academics. They are Jotun employees, Jotun trained and have long experience in research, development, inspection and the practicalities of preparation and application. They are exactly the sort of instructors who easily pass on their knowledge – so important when it is realised that some 80% of the problems arising in painted structures, are due to a wrong choice of paint or incorrect application.
