Fillers are designed to be applied by trowel, spatula or knife and must never be diluted.

Fillers must be applied on top of a primer and covered with a primer coat (sandwich technique) in order to secure complete sealing of the filler. By doing this you prevent failures due to water absorption and low gloss areas on the subsequent coats caused by solvent entrapment
