Lower Energy Consumption FBE coatings (also known as low application temperature coatings) are applied in the range of 150°C to 200°C (300°F to 390°F) while maintaining operating efficiency.
Lower Energy Consumption FBE coatings allow the design engineer to select an option that enables the pipe to be coated at temperatures well below 200ºC (390°F); temperature at which it is believed that yield to tensile properties are altered.
These products are also suitable for coating of high strength steel developed for high pressure strain based design pipelines.
L.E.C. 20+ Features
Lower Energy Consumption FBE coatings:
- Can be applied at temperatures as low as 190ºC (365°F) as a stand-alone.
- Can be applied at temperatures as low as 150ºC (300°F) without reduction in productivity, when used as a primer.
- Exceeds the requirements of CSA Z 245.20-02.
- Achieves the same performance of a conventional FBE coating at almost 50ºC (90°F) lower application temperature, while maintaining operating efficiency.

Lower Energy Consumption
FBE coatings provide
:
- Over 20% energy savings owing to lower preheat temperatures.
- Above 10% decrease of polyethylene material waste in three-layer coating systems owing to reduction of over thickness.
- Preservation of steel strength on higher X grade steel.
